Progress seen in Thailand's reconciliation

BANGKOK, February 26 (TNA) - Progress has been seen in reconciliation moves in Thailand, as the government's Reconciliation for Reform Center has conducted some 25 per cent of its planned reconciliation forums so far, with people of different stances beginning to talk together and walk in the same path. Reconciliation for Reform Center Director Lieutenant General Pisit Sitthisan, who is also Army Chief-of-Staff, told journalists of the progress on Thursday, saying that people who had attended reconciliation forums mostly sought solutions to land, agricultural and product price problems. Lieutenant General Pisit reported that he did not find any conflict at meetings with leaders of groups of people and he hoped people with different stances would, in the near future, be united. According to the director, all people who attended the forums had openly aired their opinions on reform-oriented reconciliation, resulting in villagers now beginning to look at one another and exchange smiles, unlike in the past when they did not talk with each other. The director stated that his center will gather information collected from the forums and report it to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, assessing that the picture of national reconciliation should be noticeable soon.
