He also praised the good cooperation existing between the two countries in establishing peace and security in the region. Iran has given us unmatched assistance to fight terrorism in Iraq and stood by Iraqi government and people, he said, adding that the Iraqi government is now expected to stand by Iranian government and people to confront unjust sanctions imposed by US. Referring to Iranian President Hasssan Rouhani's recent trip to Iraq, Najafi Khoshroudi said facilitating visa issuance will boost cooperation between two countries in both tourism sector and the popular interactions. Reinforcing regional cooperation has always been Iran's strategic policy, he noted. He went on to say that despite Iran's emphasis on promoting regional cooperation, some countries not only take no advantage of relations to maintain peace and security but they tend to promote disintegration. Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in the Iranian capital on Saturday morning for a two-day visit. In Tehran, the Iraqi premier held talks with top Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, on bilateral issues and met with Supreme Leader of the Revolution. He is also scheduled to visit the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (the eighth Shia Imam) in the city of Mashad, northeastern Iran. Abdul-Mahdi’s trip to Tehran is taking place at the invitation of President Rouhani. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
