Spanish FM, Isfahan Governor Confer

Isfahan, March 2, IRNA - Visiting Spanish Foreign Minister José García-Margallo here on Sunday voiced his countryˈs readiness to expand cultural and economic cooperation with Iran, particularly with the historical city of Isfahan. He made the remarks in a meeting with governor of this central province of Isfahan Rasoul Zargarpour. García-Margallo underlined that his visit to Iran will open a new chapter in further expansion of all-out relations between the two nations. Zargarpour, for his part, stressed that the two countries enjoy very cordial relations. The meeting of President Hassan Rouhani with García-Margallo in New york was of great importance and in line with expansion of bilateral ties, he reiterated. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly late September. García-Margallo arrived in the ancient city of Isfahan this morning. He is the first Spanish foreign minister visiting the Islamic Republic since 2004. He is to hold talks with President Rouhani, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and his counterpart Mohammad-Javad Zarif./end
