Tehran To Host Cinéma Vérité
Tehran, Oct 19, IRNA - Tehran will host the eighth international documentary film festival Cinéma Vérité.
A number of international productions have so far entered the lineup of the 2014 edition of festival.
Organizers of the event have released a list of documentaries selected for the Panorama section.
‘The Targeted Village’ by Chie Mikami and ‘Animation Maestro Gisaburo Sugii’ by Masato Ishioka are the films that will highlight stories from Japan.
Panorama will also display US filmmaker Zachary Heinzerling’s ‘Cutie and the Boxer’, which narrates the chaotic 40-year marriage of famed boxing painter Ushio Shinohara and his wife, Noriko.
The section is also to screen French documentary ‘Ashes’ directed by Idrissa Guiro and Mélanie Pavy, and three other films.
This year’s festival will be presented in two sections of national and international competitions. The films will compete in various categories including short documentaries, medium-length documentaries, and full-length documentaries, as well as Special section of international competitive and non-competitive section.
Iran’s Cinéma Vérité Festival screens a wide range of productions such as political, historical, ritualistic, religious, social, environmental, scientific, ethnological and war documentaries.
Organized by Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the annual festival tries to express the relationship between reality and truth.
The 2014 Cinema Vérité International Documentary Film Festival is scheduled to be held from November 30 to December 7./end
