Thai Industries sentiment index falls for fourth consecutive month
BANGKOK, October 18 (TNA) - Thai industries sentiment index (TISI) fell for a fourth straight month to 94.1 points in September from 98.5 in the previous month, said Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) Payungsak Chartsuthipol on Thursday.
Payungsak attributed the drop in industry confidence to a decline in overall orders, sales volume, production, and poor manufacturers’ performance.
The TISI had also remained below 100 points for a third consecutive month, reflecting that manufacturers still had low confidence in the country’s economy, Payungsak said.
According to the FTI chairman, factors that affected manufacturers’ confidence in September were the continued weakness in the global economy, slowing Thai exports, higher production costs, and flooding in the kingdom. (TNA)
