Thai PM arrives in Poland
POLAND, July 4 (TNA) - Accompanied by her entourage, including representatives of the private sector, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra arrived at the airport of the Polish Air Force in Warsaw, Poland's capital, at 6pm on Wednesday (local time), which is five hours behind Thailand's time, and was welcomed by Polish Undersecretary of State Jerzy Pomianowski.
Yingluck is scheduled to hold talks with representatives of Thai business operators and to be briefed on Thai businesses in Poland, namely S. Khonkaen Food Industry Public Company Limited and Thai Union Group on Thursday morning (local time), before traveling to the Polish Prime Minister’s office for an official reception ceremony.
In their discussions, the Thai Prime Minister and her Polish counterpart plan to address strategic partnership and to promote bilateral trade, investment, tourism, as well as technical and cultural exchanges and to then hold a joint press conference on results of their talks.
The Thai and Polish leaders will later presided over the signing ceremony of six agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs), including an MOU on the establishment of mechanisms for government-to-government strategic dialogues, a letter of intent for ministerial cooperation on agriculture, an MOU between Thailand's Department of International Trade Promotion and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), an MOU between the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAlilZ), an MOU between the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking and the Polish Chamber of Commerce and an MOU on cooperation between the Thai Ministry of Commerce and the Polish Ministry of Economy.
On Thursday afternoon (local time), the Thai Premier is scheduled to open an economic seminar-cum-exhibition, place a garland at a memorial, visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum, inspect the Old Town Warsaw and have her weekly program taped at the Castle Square in the Old Town Warsaw.
The Thai Prime Minister is visiting Poland and Turkey from July 3-6, aimed mainly to explore more rooms for trade and investment between Thailand and the two European nations. (TNA)
