Thai PM arrives in Switzerland
GENEVA, September 9 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra arrived in Switzerland on Sunday (local time), starting her ongoing trip to Europe this week, which also includes her official visits to Italy and Montenegro.
Accompanied by her entourage, Yingluck arrived at the Geneva International Airport at 4pm on September 8 (local time) and is scheduled to kick off her official missions on September 10.
The prime minister will first meet Thai private business operators in Switzerland to listen to their problems for her government's subsequent support, followed by her courtesy calls on Director-General of United Nations Office at Geneva Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and UN High Commissioner for Human (UNHCHR) Rights Navanethem Pillay, as well as heads of other international organizations in Geneva.
The visiting Thai prime minister will then attend the 24th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), during which she will deliver a keynote speech on human rights, covering the Thai government's policy on handling human rights issues, including human trafficking and child and women welfare.
The Thai prime minister will then meet Swiss business leaders and representatives of Thai private business operators in Geneva on Tuesday evening.
The Thai premier is scheduled to pay her official visits to Italy, the Vatican and Montenegro respectively later this week, after ending her visit to Switzerland. (TNA)
