Thai police monitoring protests closely

BANGKOK, November 24 (TNA) - Police will start monitoring closely on anti-government protesters from midnight Sunday, spun by rumours of a possible seizure of government offices and television stations in a bid to topple slightly more than two-year-old coalition government of Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, said a spokesman of the Centre of the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO). The spokesman said police believe the protesters, now occupying Ratchadamnoen Avenue and nearby Nang Loeng area which is near Government House, would split into groups and march on 12 Bangkok roads on Monday as core leaders of the demonstrators announced earlier. Those 12 roads, according to the spokesman, cover roads near Ratchadamnoen Avenue and demonstrators also plan to seize government offices and television stations. Protesters may hold demonstrations for another one or two more days, the spokesman said. In related matters, 20 schools under the supervision of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration located near the rally sites will be temporarily closed for two days, starting Monday. While political tensions have built up in the Thai capital, the management at Suvarnabhumi International Airport has urged passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure to prevent them from missing their flights.
