Thai Senate deliberates national solutions

BANGKOK, May 12 (TNA) - The Thai Senate has started its informal session to deliberate national solutions. Acting Senate Speaker Surachai Liangboonlertchai admitted at Monday's Upper House session that it takes some times to talk to all concerned parties, dismissing the anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) demand for its one-day deadline on the Senate's decision. Surachai explained that domestic problems have accumulated for over a decade and it is, therefore, impossible to solve them in one day, stressing, however, that he would try to carefully work out solutions as soon as possible. Surachai, a former deputy Senate speaker voted to be the new Senate Speaker last week, insisted that he was ready to try to work out national solutions and he hoped the Senate would eventually come up with a solution. Surachai promised that he would listen to opinions from all senators and all other parties concerned, and that he would bring proposals from all relevant parties, including the PDRC and those from a planned public hearing organized by the Senate. According to the acting Senate speaker, there will be discussions with heads of government and private agencies and then conclusions will be transformed into a roadmap. (TNA)
