Thailand to export more workers to Sweden, Finland
BANGKOK, October 26 (TNA) - Thai Labour Minister Padermchai Sasomsap is visiting Vietnam to attend the 4th Asia-Europe Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, during which he will ask Sweden and Finland to increase their import quotas for Thai workers with a guarantee for their monthly salary at 80,000-100,000 baht to secure their income.
Before leaving for the 4th ASEM Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting, set from October 24-24, Padermchai told reporters on Thursday that he would raise the issue when he meets his counterparts from Sweden and Finland to discuss the export of Thai workers to collect wild berries in the two countries.
Padermchai said he would also meet his Vietnamese counterpart and discuss labour import from Vietnam, as Vietnam plans to export its workers to Thailand, which should help solve labour shortage in the Thai construction and fishing industries.
At the ASEM Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting, the Thai labour minister revealed, the participating ministers would discuss cooperation on employment, workers’ skill development, social security development, vocational promotion and even the employment of people with disabilities. (TNA)
