Thailand strikes world record of most people being massaged at the same time
BANGKOK, August 30 (TNA) - On behalf of the Thai people, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra received on Thursday a certificate from a Guinness World Records adjudicator Rob Molloy for the Kingdom's striking a new Guinness World Records challenge of organizing a therapy session for 641 pairs of massage recipients at the same time.
The most 641 pairs of people being massaged at the same time in the 12-minute therapy by masseuses, well-trained and certified by the Thai Ministry of Public Health, at Thailand Medical Expo 2012, themed Thailand: World Class Medical Hub, being held in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from August 30-September 2, were up from 263 pairs previously slated by the Guinness World Records two years ago at an event hosted by Tourism Victoria in Australia.
Official statistics show that there have been some 2.5 million foreign patients seeking medical services in Thailand so far this year, earning the country over 121 billion baht, most of them have come from Japan, followed by those from the United States, the Middle East and Australia for orthopaedics most, followed by cardiac treatments, cosmetic surgery and dental services.
