Tow-away measure for illegally parked vehicles expanded in Bangkok
BANGKOK, October 29 (TNA) - Police are expanding a measure on towing illegally-parked vehicles to 30 more roads in Bangkok, from 10 main roads initially, effective from November 1, 2013.
Assistant National Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Ruangsak Jarit-ek told reporters on Tuesday that after the measure has been initially implemented on 10 main roads in the capital since October 21, 2013, at least 67 illegally parked vehicles have been towed away and traffic congestion on the areas has relieved.
Police Lieutenant General Ruangsak elaborated that the number of vehicles getting stuck in traffic jams at each intersection on the 10 main roads in the city has dropped and traffic flows have, thus, improved.
According to the assistant national police chief, a latest opinion survey found that most respondents supported the measure, as it could ease traffic congestion.
The assistant national police chief acknowledged that the respondents also agreed with the rates of fines and towing fees on violators, as well as the Royal Thai Police's plan to expand the measure to other roads in Bangkok. Besides, police have no problems in implementing the measure. (TNA)
