ANKARA (A.A) - October 31, 2011 - Turkish dailies mostly covered in their Monday's edition the rock music concert which was held to raise money for survivors of the quake that hit Van province and the woman who shielded herself against a suicide bomber. Almost all newspapers wrote the rock music concert which took place in Istanbul city to collect money for the eastern province of Van that was hit by a massive earthquake on October 23, killing 601 people and injuring thousands of others. 40 singers and groups as well as 280 musicians attended the concert which was listened by 12,500 people. The concert, which began at 11:00 a.m., continued till midnight. 584 people worked voluntarily for the concert. A school will be built in Van with the money collected in the concert. 250,000 Turkish Lira was collected and all of it was donated to Red Crescent aid society. Also, four trucks of aid materials were collected during the concert which took place in Kucukciftlik Park. Another topic all newspapers wrote was the woman who used herself as a shield against a PKK suicide bomber to protect her children in the eastern province of Bingol. It was revealed that Nesibe Belgin, who was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Bingol on Saturday, protected her children by jumping on the suicide bomber. According to witnesses, Belgin and her three children went shopping. When she saw the bomber, she pushed her children --Veysel (16), Ceylan (14) and Hazal (11)-- away, and then walked on the suicide bomber. At that moment, the bomb went off. The children were wounded, and Veysel's condition is serious. Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said, "it seems that our citizen, who was killed in the attack, saved lives of many people."
