Two Russians, one Thai arrested for ATM skimming

BANGKOK, November 18 (TNA) - Thai immigration police have arrested two Russians and a Thai tourist police officer who are suspected of involving in recent ATM skimming cases in different areas, including those in Bangkok and provincial areas. According to the Thai immigration police, the three suspects, identified as 38-year-old Sherkie Pierturner and 27-year-old Alersy Stiedter from Russia, as well as the other Thai, verified to be Police Sergeant Major Nontapan Saengsuk, a tourist police officer, were arrested on November 17 at an ATM machine in front of the Provincial Hall of Nakhon Ratchasima in the Thai Northeast. The Thai immigration police told journalists that they nabbed the suspects after noticing their suspicious activity at the ATM machine, as the suspects accidentally dropped several ATM cards while they were trying to withdraw money. The Thai police said they believe the arrested suspects are members of an ATM skimming gang, which recently operated in Bangkok and southern provinces. The Thai police also seized 2.9-million-baht cash, 350 counterfeit ATM cards and three mobile phones from the suspects. (TNA)
