U.S. sends aid to Turkey
ERZURUM (A.A) - October 31, 2011 - A cargo plane, carrying U.S. assistance for Turkey's eastern Van province, landed at an airport in eastern province of Erzurum on Sunday.
U.S. is sending eight planes of assistance to Van which was hit by a massive earthquake measuring 7.2 on Richter scale on October 23, killing 601 people and injuring thousands of others.
The rest of the U.S. assistance, including beds, blankets, sleeping bags and tents, will reach Turkey within the next few days.
The U.S. also donated 250,000 USD to Turkish Red Crescent aid society.
Meanwhile, two planes carrying assistance from Turkmenistan and United Arab Emirates, also landed at Erzurum airport.
