Volkswagen invited to produce eco-cars in Thailand

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - Volkswagen AG, a globally-renowned Germany-based car manufacturer has been invited to produce eco-cars in Thailand. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra made the invitation during her meeting with Volkswagen AG's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Christian Klingler in Bangkok on Friday, acknowledging that Thailand's automobile and parts industries have remained promising. Yingluck noted that her government also has policies on promoting foreign investment and regional trade through transport connectivity. Klingler, in turn, said Volkswagen is interested in expanding the company's investment projects into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Thailand. (TNA)
