‘Intl. community should listen to voice of Bahraini and Yemeni people’

TEHRAN, April 16 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said that the international community should listen to the voice of Bahraini and Yemini people.
In a recent interview with a Serbian TV network, Mehmanparast commented on the latest developments in the region including the popular uprisings in Bahrain and Yemen as well as developments in Syria.
On Syria, he said that Iran’s attitude toward the country is clear, adding that Iran respects the votes of the Syrian people in a constitutional referendum held on February 26.
He went on to say that Syria stands up to the atrocities being committed by the Zionist regime and hinders the implementation of the United States’ policies in the region.
Asked about Iran’s nuclear program, Mehmanparast reiterated that Iran was among the first countries which joined the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and its nuclear activities are within this framework.
He added Tehran is opposed to any weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons and the Islamic Republic believes that all weapons of mass killing should be annihilated throughout the globe.
