Afghan Diplomat Summoned To Foreign Ministry

Tehran, July 1, IRNA – Afghan charge d’affaires to Tehran Shah Mardanqol was summoned to Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday in protest at the recent Afghan media hype against Iran's treatment of Afghan nationals illegally residing in the country as well as murder of a young Iranian girl by an Afghan in Yazd Province. Head of Foreign Ministry department for Afghan affairs Mohsen Pakaeen in the meeting condemned the crime, calling for respecting Iranian laws and regulations by Afghans residing in Iran. He also dismissed as “contrary to international regulations” the claims raised by a group of Afghan people against Iranian judicial system. “There are now three million Afghans living in Iran in peace and respectfully but Iranian officials deal with foreign criminals based on the law.” The Afghan diplomat deplored the incidents, saying Kabul is thankful towards Iran for its humane and dignified approach towards Afghan nationals, believing that offenders should be treated based on law./end
