Afghan FM Spokesman Terms Tehran-Kabul Ties Amicable
Kabul, May 27, IRNA - Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Jana Mosazai called Iran-Afghanistan ties very amicable.
Mosazai made the remarks in his weekly press briefing in Kabul on Sunday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan have signed 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on expansion of bilateral cooperation in various sectors, he noted.
During recent visit of an Afghan judiciary delegation to Iran, judicial officials of both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern including the issue of prisoners, calling for implementation of agreements already inked by the two countries on extradition of criminals and commuting prison terms of inmates, he said.
Cooperation between the two countriesˈ judicial systems has a long history, he said, adding that Iran freed some 784 Afghan inmates and commuted prison terms of a lot of others.
On the number of Iranian nationals kept at Afghan prisons, he said he did not know about the exact number./end
