Azerbaijani FM meets CoE Secretary General

Baku, May 23 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland. Mr. Mammadyarov stressed the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe. On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Minister stressed the urgency of withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan`s occupied territories. The Azerbaijani FM said security and stability would be under threat and uncertainty would continue in the region until Armenia stopped its policy of aggression and the dispute was solved within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. They exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe, and the country`s Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council.
