Boroujerdi Calls For Enhanced Ties With Kabul In Parliamentary Domain
Tehran, Feb 14, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Wednesday called for enhanced parliamentary ties and cordial relations with Afghanistan, in light of abundant historical, cultural, linguistic and religious commonalities shared by Iranian and Afghan nations.
In a meeting with new ambassador of Afghanistan Nasir Ahmad Nour, Boroujerdi said expansion of relations between Iranian and Afghan parliaments, and the parliamentary friendship groups, would consolidate bilateral relations and cooperation in various domains.
Boroujerdi said Iranian Majlis is ready to transfer experience to Afghanistan and have extensive cooperation with Afghan parliament.
He called for Afghan governmentˈs stern campaign against poppy cultivation and stem the risk illicit drugs exposed to human life.
The Afghan ambassador for his part enumerated historical, religious and cultural commonalities of Tehran and Kabul, calling for using the existing opportunities and capacities to promote bilateral relations.
He said Afghan foreign policy underlines importance of all-out expansion of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said that Afghan government is willing to tackle the problems in various fields, having solemn resolve to fight drugs.
He called for expansion of mutual cooperation, especially in parliamentary field, and asked Iran to extend assistance to Afghanistan to solve its problems./end
