Chinese top diplomat confident BRICS summit to prove successful

BEIJING, August 30. /TASS/. Chinese authorities are confident that the BRICS summit in Xiamen will prove successful as the best conditions have been created for the high-level meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a briefing on Wednesday.
"Everything is ready for the forum. We are confident that it will produce positive results," the Chinese top diplomat said.
According to Wang Yi, Beijing expects that the upcoming summit and the documents that will be signed during the meeting will boost cooperation between developing countries and provide them with an opportunity to jointly overcome the global challenges concerning economics, humanitarian and cultural interaction, cooperation with BRICS non-member states, partnership between the BRICS members, as well as the setup of BRICS specialized international agencies.
"Each of the member states is capable of influencing the decisions that BRICS makes," the Chinese foreign minister pointed out.
BRICS is an informal association of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group, founded in June 2006 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, seeks to ensure sustainable, open and transparent dialogue and cooperation between member states. The first BRICS summit was held in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg in 2009.
The BRICS summit will take place in China’s Xiamen on September 3-5. Apart from the group’s members, five more countries will also take part in the event - Egypt, Mexico, Guinea, Tajikistan and Thailand.
