Erdogan-Obama meeting sign of close dialogue

NEW YORK (AA) - March 22, 2012 - A prospective meeting between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of a nuclear summit in Seoul is a sign of the two leaders' "close dialogue and their perfect relations," a State Department official said.
Michael Hammer, acting assistant secretary for public affairs, told a press conference on Wednesday that the meeting also reaffirmed their resolve to work together on some challenging issues such as the crisis in Syria and Iran's nuclear program.
"We appreciate Turkey's opinions and efforts in areas where we have common interests and together we try to find best solutions to problems at hand," Hammer said.
Hammer also said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Turkish Foreign Minister also held frequent talks, exchanging views over most pressing global and regional issues.
