FM Spokesman: Iran Urges Parties In Egypt To Exercise Restraint

Tehran, July 28, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi urged all parties in Egypt to exercise restraint and refrain from violence. Referring to recent tensions in Egypt which resulted in killing of a number of civilians, he stressed that Iran monitored and followed developments in Egypt very closely. He said Iran is confident that the Egyptian nation maintains vigilance against enemies’ attempts to deviate its revolution from its original path. The spokesman further expressed Iran’s deep concern over the outcome of crisis in Egypt. Araqchi urged all organizations and bodies as well as national and Islamic figures in Egypt to respect the national unity, people’s basic rights and the democratic procedures to pave the way for dialogue and national reconciliation leading to formation of a civil society./end
