Germany Not Seeking European Domination: Minister

Berlin, May 4, IRNA -- Germany is not instrumentalizing the financial crisis to dominate Europe, Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble was quoted saying in the German press Friday. Speaking in the south German city of Ulm, Schaeuble said, ˈWe donˈt want a German Europe. What we want is a strong Europe.ˈ No European Union country by itself is capable of representing its interests globally, he added. Anti-German feelings have run high across Europe as mostly southern European countries like Italy, Spain and Greece accuse Berlin of leading the push for Europeˈs mounting unpopular austerity policies./end
