Industry minister says Turkey probably not assume embargo policy against France

ISTANBUL (A.A) - December 21, 2011 - Turkish Science, Industry & Technology Minister Nihat Ergun said over a French resolution criminalizing the rejection of Armenian allegations on 1915 incidents that Turkey would probably not assume an embargo policy against France as well as not violate international agreements.
However, France should take into consideration the uneasiness that would emerge in Turkish society, Ergun told reporters on Wednesday.
I hope French administration will take a step with common sense, and see the impact of this resolution on future economic and political relations, said Ergun.
This would negatively affect France's image and its relations with other countries rather than giving harm to Turkey, noted Ergun.
A French resolution criminalizing the rejection of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915 will be voted on December 22 at French Parliament. In January 2001, French Parliament adopted a law recognizing so-called Armenian genocide in 1915.
