Inter-parliamentary dialogue opens new dimension of BRICS activity - Putin

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes the direct inter-parliamentary dialogue of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) is an important and timely step in the development of the five countries, the Kremlin official website has said. "Establishing a direct multilateral dialogue between the legislators is a rather important and timely step in the development of BRICS - a grouping of five large and powerful states of the planet," Putin stressed in a greeting for the participants and guests of the first parliamentary forum of BRICS opening in Moscow on Monday. The forum "opens a totally new dimension in the sphere of the five countries and significantly expands their capacities attracting to the joint work the representatives of various political parties, public organizations and expert circles," he said. This is especially important taking into consideration that many issues of modern international relations are of a very complex character and demand uniting efforts of the state power and civil society, the president believes. "I am sure that parliamentarians will make a significant contribution to solving the major tasks before BRICS and will promote actively boosting diversification of partnership between our countries on the regional and global agenda, and enhancing the authority of the five countries on the world arena," he said.
