Iran’s Sovereignty Must Be Respected: Indian Leader

New Delhi, Jan 8, IRNA – An Indian leader on Saturday said that Islamic Republic of Iran is a responsible and peace-loving nation and its sovereignty must be respected. Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed, MLA of Delhi Assembly, while talking to IRNA on the current escalation generated by the imperialist power, the US, said: “The US has deliberately raised tensions in the Persian Gulf using false claims about Iran’s nuclear program to create the political climate for a reckless military adventure”. He was of the view that US’s infidel policies against Iran are for furthering its hegemony over energy-rich region. On the question how to solve the disputes, the Indian Politician noted 'Unless we are prepared to accept that there is truth in other points of view as well, reconciliation is not possible. “The US should desist from rigidity and should also recognize that Iran as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) has the legal right to enrich nuclear fuel under international safeguards.” Maintaining that Iran has no plans to build nuclear weapons, Mateen said that Washington and its allies are suffering from Iranophobia. “To prolong their presence in the region, they (the US and its allies) are using this propaganda tool,” he further noted. Turning on to the sanctions imposed upon Iran, the Indian leader termed them as “illegal”. “However, these sanctions could not make any obstacles in its progress and Iran is moving forward,” stressed Indian leader. He further said that the achievements of 'Velayat-90' war games recently conducted by the Iranian Naval forces near Hormuz Strait, prove Iran’s readiness./end
