Iran to build more destroyers, increase intl. naval presence

TEHRAN,June 23(MNA) – The commander of the Navy announced that Iran plans to build more modern destroyers and boost its naval presence in international waters. Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Thursday that Iran’s increased naval presence is meant to secure international shipping routes and protect the interests of the country around the world, particularly in the Gulf of Aden and the northern part of the Indian Ocean.
