Iran Has Always Backed Syrians Against Enemy Plots: Syrian Speaker

Islamabad, Dec 9, IRNA -- The Speaker of the Syrian Parliament on Sunday said that Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the people and government of Syria against the conspiracies of Zionist Regime and US. Mohammad Jihad al-Laham made the remarks during a meeting with Iran’s Majlis Vice Speaker Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi-Fard at a hotel in Islamabad. He expressed gratitude to the people and the government of Iran and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for supporting Syria at all international and political forums. Some Iranian Members of the Parliament and Ali Reza Haghighian, Irans Ambassador to Pakistan were also present in the meeting. “We have always enjoyed extreme support of Iran on all issues,” Mohammad Jihad al-Laham said. The Syrian Speaker added that Iran has supported Syria against the conspiracies of Zionist Regime and US. He went on to say that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has archived the success with the support of his people. Referring to the conference of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) he said that Syrian delegation would follow a logical agenda in the session. “We would use this forum to explain to the world about our miseries,” he said. Mohammad Jihad al-Laham expressing his views said that Syria wants end to foreign intervention in the country. ”People of Syria must be allowed to decide their own future,” he said. He expressed the hope that the Syrian people under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad would defeat all conspiracies. Iran’s Majlis Vice Speaker Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi-Fard on the occasion expressed his happiness with the meeting and wished the Syrian government and people success in coming days. “We are witnessing new developments at the international level,” he noted. He said that supporters of Hosni Mubarak had seen how the people in Egypt threw away the tyrant aggressor. He said that it is because of the resistance movement in Syria that the occupying forces were defeated in 33 days war. He said that those politicians of the world who were campaigning against the nuclear program of Iran could not even imagine that the Islamic Republic would succeed in the dialogue. “The people of Iran are with the Syrian nation and would always support their cause,” he said. He prayed for the success of Syria. He said that friends of Syria must come forward and play their role for prosperity and stability of the country. Abutorabi-Fard also held a meeting with Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed who is also Chairman of organizing committee of APA and discussed matters of mutual interest./end
