Iran-IAEA Talks To Continue

Vienna, May 15, IRNA – Negotiations between IAEA-Iran will continue Tuesday at the Office of the Permanent Representative of Iran at UN and other International Organizations Building in Vienna. The first day of talks between Iran and the agency began at 10 am Monday and continued till 15:15 pm local time. Iran's Ambassador and Representative at IAEA Ali-Asghar Soltanieh was the head of the Iranian delegation and Deputy IAEA Secretary General Herman Nackaerts headed the agency’s negotiation team. Nackaerts at the end to the negotiations and before leaving the Office of the Iranian Representative in Vienna refrained from talking with the press. Speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting in Vienna on Monday, Nackaerts said, “We are here to continue our dialog with Iran in a positive spirit.” We aim to reach an agreement on an approach to resolve all remaining issues on Iran’s nuclear energy issue, Nackaerts added. The Deputy Head of Agency said that the framework of talks with Iran is the nuclear NPT. The talks between Iran-IAEA were held behind closed doors and in the absence of reporters. Soltaniyeh said on April 27th that the main aim of the talks would be to devise a framework for answering the questions about Tehran’s nuclear energy program. Iran and the IAEA held two rounds of talks in the Iranian capital in January and February. The new round of the talks between Iran and the IAEA comes as Tehran and the G5+1 (Britain, France, Russia, China and the United States plus Germany) are preparing to hold another multifaceted meeting in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on May 23./end
