Iran New President To Swear In This Afternoon

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA – Seventh Iranian President Hassan Rohani who won 11th presidential election with a landslide victory is to take oath this afternoon.
Rohani's swearing-in ceremony is to be held at Iran's Majlis (Parliament) at 16:00 hours local time.
According to Iran's Constitution, the new President will swear in at a ceremony attended by members of parliament, Judiciary chief and heads of state.
The new President is to swear that he would make effort to protect the Islamic Republic system, the official religion and the Constitution.
He will also promise to serve the nation, promote ethic and religion and support justice and avoid tyranny.
He will also vow to spare no effort to safeguard national borders and cultural, economic and political independence of the country.
Representatives and leaders from over 55 world states are attending the today oath-taking ceremony.
Eleven presidents, two prime ministers, seven parliament speakers, three deputy prime ministers, eight vice-presidents, 11 foreign ministers, 12 ministers and two special guests as well as an envoy from the United Nations are planned to be present in Rohani's oath-taking ceremony.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei endorsed Rohani as the new President on August 3.
On June 14, Rohani won over half of the votes at the 11th presidential election./end
