Iran-Pakistan-Afghanistan Anti-drug Trafficking Bodies Meet

Kabul, Nov 28, IRNA – Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan held a tripartite meeting on campaign against drug-trafficking in Kabul Sunday. The three day meeting being held under aegis of the United Nations is to decide on a suitable mechanism to fight growing menace of drug trafficking. Director General of Iran's Drug Control Headquarters for international affairs Mahmoud Bayat in the meeting outlined the measures taken by Iran in this fight and the high cost it has paid for this purpose in different areas bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan. 'More than 3700 people have been martyred and over 11,000 others injured in the campaign,” he said. The participants in the meeting underlined that it was impossible to eradicate drug smuggling without collective cooperation of the three countries and called for assistance from the international community./end
