Iran To Participate In Int’l Seminar On Arab Spring In New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 12, IRNA - The Islamic Republic of Iran is to attend a three-day International Seminar on Arab Spring at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi, beginning next week. The participants are scholars from almost all affected Arab countries along with ambassadors of Iran, Turkey and Egypt. The path breaking developments in the Arab world and their far-reaching consequences will be the centre of debate as a host of experts from India and abroad come together to discuss the Arab Spring. The experts will not only gloss over the incidents that shaped much of the last year, but will also discuss their long-term impact on the Arab region and rest of the world. 'The question of Islamists emerging as a political force in the post uprising Arab world and the question of whether the developments are really capable of ushering in democracy will be among the central themes of our seminar,' pti reported quoting Anwar Alam, director of the University's Centre for West Asian Studies. He said the sessions, spread over three days, will also touch upon in detail the role of women during and after the uprisings and the response of regional and global powers to the movements./end
