Iran President: Iraq Deserves Welfare, Progress

Tehran, Nov 13, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday that the Iraqi nation deserved to have progress, welfare and prosperity. The President made the remarks in a meeting here with the visiting Prime Minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government Nechirvan Idris Barzani. President Ahmadinejad stressed that security and stability are prerequisites to national progress. Referring to the historical and all-out relations between Iran and Iraq, the President said bilateral cooperation could be further promoted by activating all potentials between the two capitals. “Iran fully backs the process of progress and establishment of security in Iraq,” President Ahmadinejad stressed. For his part, the Iraqi official hailed Iran’s support for Iraq’s integrity and progress. Barzani stressed that Baghdad was determined to promote its political ties with Tehran./end
