Iran-Serbia Underline Deepening Bilateral Ties

Belgrade, July 18, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister in Europe and America Affairs and Serbia Speaker of National Assembly underlined deepening bilateral relations as well as cooperation between the two countries in the framework of Non-Aligned Movement.
Ali Asghar Khaji, in a meeting with Zaharia Trnavcevic here on Tuesday, by referring to Iran’s position in the Middle East and Persian Gulf as well as Serbia position in east of Europe, said that ethnic diversity is a capacity which can make progress of nations possible if used properly.
Khaji said that although Balkan had a harsh and bitter period during the past decade, it is now witnessing a period of stability and tranquility.
He added that Iran, as upcoming chairman of the NAM, will welcome and support the new atmosphere and is ready to present every kind of help.
The envoy called parliaments' role in promotion of ties “important” and added that parliaments, by playing their own role, can lead and complete governments relations.
The Serbian senior MP, by referring to first holding meeting of NAM in Belgrade, talked about the aim of establishment of the movement and added that independence of nations and confrontation with blocks of powers were among the primary goals of the NAM.
Referring to Iran’s history and rich civilization and its effects on mutual ties between the two countries, the speaker said that Serbia parliament is ready to help expansion of friendly cooperation between the two countries./end
