IRGC Denies Martyrdom Of Colonel Suleimani In Damascus Blast

Tehran, July 23, IRNA – The IRGC on Sunday denied in a statement recent reports on the alleged martyrdom of Iranian commander Qasem Suleimani in the July 18 bombing in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The statement published by Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps' (IRGC) Public Relations Office said that reports by certain media in recent days on alleged martyrdom of commander Suleimani in Syria’s National Security Council’s blast was untrue.
“Certain Arab media along with their western counterparts have started an immoral and hostile propaganda against Iran in recent days due to the latest situation in Syria and Tehran’s support for the Palestinian resistance,” Head of the IRGC’s Public Relations Office Brigadier Ramezan Sharif said in the statement.
He noted among the recent allegations made by those media was the alleged presence of Commander Suleimani in the meeting of the Syria’s National Security Council which was targeted by the last Wednesday’s bombing.
Brigadier Sharif added those involved in such anti-Iran propaganda were aimed to “mislead public opinion and encourage supporters and agents of the Zionist regime by discouraging public opinion towards the resistance.
However, Sharif added, Arab and Muslim nations would never stop their support for Syria and the Palestinian resistance and would always rise against enemy./end
