IRNA Chief: BBC, Means Of Implementing UK Colonial Policies

Moscow, July 8, IRNA – The Islamic Republic News Agency chief said Saturday that BBC is paving the way for implementing the UK colonial policies. Ali Akbar Javanfekr, also presidential advisor for media affairs, made the remarks in a meeting with director of British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) World Service Peter Horrocks. He further criticized BBC's approach regarding developments in all independent countries throughout the globe, in particular the Islamic Republic of Iran. BBC is trying to broadcast news about Iran in a directed manner, said Javanfekr adding it wants to show the Islamic Republic of Iran as an unstable and shaky country. Horrocks in his statements on Friday at World Media Summit in Moscow had claimed that the families of its Iranian staff members are prosecuted in Iran. The IRNA chief rejected the claim and termed it as baseless. Javanfekr also said BBC is suffering from a blatant paradox. He further stressed the important role the world media plays in strengthening relations among various nations. As to any probable attack by the Zionist regime, he said the Iranian nation is a peace-seeking nation but it strongly reacts to any aggressive measure. Javanfekr is in Moscow to attend the Second World Media Summit and review issues of mutual interests with Russian officials./end
