Killing of 16 Afghan civilians shows U.S. weakness: Iran`s Majlis committee

TEHRAN,March 13(MNA) – The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian parliament issued a statement on Monday condemning the recent killing of 16 Afghan civilians by a U.S. soldier. Sixteen Afghans, including women and children, were killed in their homes by a deranged U.S. soldier in a pre-dawn massacre on Sunday. The members of the committee strongly denounced the incident and wrote, “Such attacks show the weakness of the United States in the region.” “As long as the Americans remain on the soil of the Muslim country of Afghanistan, such atrocities may be repeated every second,” the statement read. It also said that the only way to prevent such incidents from occurring again is the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan. In addition, members of the committee called on the United Nations to adopt a firm stance toward the attack and strongly condemn it. They also wrote that the UN should adopt a resolution to help accelerate the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
