Larijani: West’s ballyhoo due to failure of its policies

Tehran, Dec 11, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the West’s ballyhoo is due to the failure of its policies in the region. Addressing the parliament’s Sunday morning session, he made the remark in reference to what the British Prime Minister Theresa May and the US Secretary of Defense said in issues concerning security in Iran. He said their remarks indicated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been successful with its wise regional policies. Iranian Foreign Ministry has criticized the “meddlesome” remarks of the UK Prime Minister Theresa May during the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) as hostile to Iran. Spokesman Qasemi said such intervening remarks by the UK prime minister only escalated tensions in the region. Qasemi assessed May's remarks as a lip service to the PGCC leaders to lure them into contracts on selling British weapons to them. The Foreign Ministry also summoned the British Ambassador Nicholas Hopton to the ministry on Saturday to inform him of Iran’s strong protest to May’s 'uncalculated' claims during her speech in the PGCC summit. 1378/IRNA
