Lebanese PM Thanks Iran For Close Co-op With Lebanon

Beirut, May 30, IRNA -- Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati referred to the positive impacts of a visit paid by Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi to Beirut under sensitive situation and thanked Iran for its efforts to promote cooperation with the Arab state. He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi on Tuesday. They discussed mutual cooperation and the outcome of of the first summit of Iran-Lebanon High Economic Commission and Iran’s exclusive trade exhibition scheduled to be held in Beirut from June 13-16. Mikati contended that the exhibition will greatly contribute to commercial and economic cooperation between the two states. He welcomed holding the event and said that he will visit the exhibition. Roknabadi delivered Rahimi’s message on the ‘Feast of Resistance and Freedom’ to Mikati. Talking to reporters after the talks, Roknabadi said that they reviewed the latest regional and international developments and mutual cooperation. Referring to organizing Iranian first exclusive trade exhibit in Beirut, he added that the event is the first of its kind which will display Iran’s capabilities in various fields such as industry and technology. He said that kidnapping of the Iranian and Lebanese nationals in Syria was also raised during the meeting with Mikati. Mikati underlined concerted efforts to help free them at the earliest, Roknabadi said./end
