MP Advises West To Pursue Interaction With Iran

Tehran, May 21, IRNA – A member of (Majlis) Parliament here on Sunday advised western countries to pursue interaction with Iran during the upcoming Baghdad nuclear talks. Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told reporters that the West should not exercise anti-Iran policies. Referring to Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, Boroujerdi said the international pressures and the anti-Iran resolutions cannot make Tehran halt its nuclear program. He further underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in a Middle East free from nuclear weapons. Tehran will continue its negotiations with the sextet - the US, Britain, France, China, Russia plus Germany - said Boroujerdi, rejecting the claims that the Baghdad talks will be the end of nuclear discussions. On the visit to Tehran of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano, the parliamentarian said the visit is aimed at talking with Iranian officials on bilateral cooperation. He stressed that the outcome of Amano's talks will have positive impacts on the process of Baghdad talks./end
