National dialogue only solution to Syrian crisis: Iranian ambassador

TEHRAN,Oct.21(MNA) – Iranian Ambassador to Italy Mohammad Ali Hosseini said that stopping the violence in Syria and preparing the ground for holding a national dialogue is the only solution to the crisis in the country. Speaking to Italian media outlets on Friday, Hosseini commented on the Islamic Republic’s stance toward the Syrian issue and said that Tehran supports any plan or initiative aimed at resolving “internal, regional, or international crises” through dialogue and consensus. Commenting on holding negotiations between the Syrian government and the extremist armed groups, Hosseini said all countries that seek to find a peaceful and political solution to the Syrian crisis do not believe in dialogue with armed groups. In reply to a question about the role of Iran, Turkey, and Egypt in resolving the Syrian issue, he said that Iran supports the formation of a trilateral or quadripartite group comprised of important and influential countries in the Muslim world in line with efforts to resolve the Syrian conflict.
