One Killed, 4 Injured In Firing In N.Kashmir

New Delhi, March 6, IRNA - One was killed and four were injured in alleged firing by security forces during protests in North Kashmir on Tuesday. Hundreds of residents of Baramulla town took to streets to protest what they alleged ransacking of their houses by the army in the area, pti reported quoting official sources. The protesters pelted stones at the army personnel who opened fire to disperse them. Five persons were injured in the firing one of whom later succumbed to injuries, the sources said. The protestors also hurled stones at the Deputy Commissionerˈs office smashing its window panes. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah broke down in the assembly over the killing of a youth allegedly by security forces during protests in Kashmir, saying the action on the mob was unjustified. He told the assembly that a probe would be held into the killing and strict punishment given to those found guilty./end
