Pakistani Legal Expert Condemns West's Sanctions Against Iran

Islamabad, Oct 9, IRNA – Pakistani legal expert on Monday lashed out unilateral sanctions against Iran adding that such moves cannot weaken Islamic Republic. Talking to IRNA, the former Senator S. M. Zafar asked the western states to change their policy of coercion against Iran. He said that imposing sanctions on Iran over its refusal to freeze its peaceful nuclear program is unjustified, shameful, and unlawful. The political leader said that Iran is a strong country and sanctions would have no impact on the progress of the Islamic Republic. “Sanctions are increasing anti-US sentiments in Iran,” he said. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in his report has also condemned unilateral sanctions against Iran. S. M. Zafar said that Iran is rich in natural resources and can survive in the world despite sanctions. Senior advocate of the Supreme Court said that it is probably not possible to get favorable results out of these exercises. “I am against the tool of sanction and it should not be used against any country in the world,” added the politician. The former senator added that the sanctions don't lead to any thing as countries do not make concessions under pressure. He was of the opinion that the success of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit showed that many countries of the world want to develop strong relations with Iran. “There is no room for propaganda to isolate Iran,” he opined. The politician went on to say that the NAM summit has given boost to the status of Iran in the world. S. M. Zafar replying to a question said that the differences in the Muslim world are helping the west to hatch anti-Islam conspiracies. The “Muslims have to shun their differences and to unite to counter the anti-Islam propaganda of the west,” he viewed. He also agreed with the notion that the Muslim countries should ban their imports of the western products./end
