Parliament ratifies optional protocol

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At a plenary meeting of the parliamentary session on Thursday, a majority of MPs (80.4%) backed and then ratified a bill on ratifying the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on a communications procedure.
During the discussion, some touched upon an issue of breaching children’s essential rights, for example, children' going to secondary schools in three shifts and even sitting in one class with 60 pupils.
To this the Minister of Education, Culture and Science L.Gantomor said that the overloading of schools has appeared only at the #1 secondary school "because many parents consider this school as one of the best ones in the UB city". Such a violation will be abolished from the academic years of 2015-2016, he promised.
