Parliament Speaker Cicek receives SG of Parliamentary Assembly of OIC

PALEMBANG (A.A) - January 29, 2012 - Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek received on Sunday the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Mahmut Erol Kilic, met with Indonesia's House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie and Parliament Speaker of the United Arab Emirates Muhammad al-Mar in Indonesian city of Palembang. Cicek's meeting with Kilic and al-Mar took place behind closed doors. Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Marzuki Alie, Cicek said that mutual high level visits would contribute to the development of bilateral relations. The relations between the parliaments of Turkey and Indonesia can deepen overall relations, Cicek noted. Alie, in his part, said that they wanted to carry relations between the parliaments of Turkey and Indonesia further. Cicek's participation in the 7th conference of Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will make important contributions to the conference, Alie stressed. Certain members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OIC can not pay their annual dues. Countries in good financial status like Turkey could help these countries, Alie underlined. Turkey has provided two billion USD as aid to various countries, most of which were Islamic, in the past year.
