PRESIDENT’S PARTICIPATION IN APEC SUMMIT DISCUSSED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On December 10, the cabinet discussed results of the attendance of President Ts.Elbegdorj in the APEC Summit which ran this November 8-11 in Beijing, and obligated the Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren to submit these results to the Security Council of Mongolia. A discussion "Strengthening Partnerships on Infrastructure" ran during the summit at initiative of the Chair–the People’s Republic of China. The forum was chaired by the Chinese President Xi Jinping and addressed by heads of eight participating states and by heads of two international organizations, who expressed own positions on building a fundamental economic structure for development, thus on conducting a mutually beneficial cooperation. The Chinese side informed that it decided to allocate USD 40 billion for settling the investment and financial issues in frames of the “Silk Road” initiative by the PRC. Mr Elbegdorj emphasized Mongolia’s efforts towards accessing the APEC, noting that Mongolia will serve as an important structural junction being located at the boundaries of Asia and Europe. He presented the activities running in Mongolia on infrastructural spheres and proposed a cooperation on transit transports within the scope of “Steppe Road” initiative. During the summit, the President met his counterpart Xi Jinping to exchange opinions on the bilateral relations, and was paid courtesy call by the chairman of the NPC Standing committee Zhang Dejiang. Mr Xi and Mr Elbegdorj unanimously appreciated the fruitful outcomes of the first trilateral meeting of the heads of three states: Mongolia, Russia and China.
