President Raisi: Fighting terrorists among Iran-Iraq agreements
Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed the fact that security, peace, and stability in the region are very important for Iran and the Iraqi government, adding that fighting terrorist groups, organized crimes, drug trafficking and any insecurity that threatens the region is part of the agreements and common will of the two countries.
Raisi made the remarks in a joint press conference with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani started their joint press conference on Tuesday.
Raisi appreciated Iraqi PM and nation for hosting Arbaeen pilgrims.
Our relations with Iraq are not ordinary relations, but rooted in the two nations’ beliefs, he said adding that the deep bilateral ties have brought the two nations and the two governments together.
The Iraqi government is the result of the agreement of between political groups in Iraq, he said.
We hope that the Prime Minister's plan will provide a different service for the people of Iraq, he noted.
He hailed cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad in cultural, political, social, and security fields and hoped for promoting cooperation during the new Iraqi government’s term
He stated that the Iraqi government, security, peace, and stability in the region are very important.
Fighting terrorist groups, organized crime, drugs, and any insecurity that threatens the region is part of the agreement and common will of the two countries, he stressed.
The presence of foreigners in the region does not bring about security in any way, but it is a problem, so just as the presence of Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq did not create security, it is not an advantage in other parts of the region, and their withdrawal from the region can definitely contribute to the security of the region.
He went on to say that the two sides ate to review monetary and banking issues as well as electricity and gas exports.
