Rafsanjani sees direct cash subsidy as a social threat, Iranian MP says

TEHRAN, April 5(MNA) – Majid Nasirpour of the Majlis minority faction says Expediency Council Chairman Hashemi Rafsanjani believes that the direct cash subsidy is a “social threat”. Members of the Majlis minority faction met with Rafsanjani on Wednesday. “Hashemi Rafsanjani made a reference to the issue of subsidy targeting in the meeting and insisted that the distribution of national capital in the form of cash not only hurts the economy, but also it will be a social threat in the long run,” MP Majid Nasirpour told . Nasirpour also added that Rafsanjani is of the view that Iran should take steps to improve its relations with the outside world in order to reduce the effects of the U.S.-led sanctions on the country. “He (Rafsanjani) believed sanctions will naturally have negative effect on the economy and we should try to diminish the effects of these sanctions by reducing international challenges,” the MP stated.
